Reviews The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword 14 reviews - average rating 8,7Best 3D Zelda since Ocarina of Time! After many years of waiting, we finally get the next Zelda game and it is worth the wait!
The graphics are among the best on the Wii, with impressive loading times, and the art style is a successful combination of Twilight's cool design and Wind Waker's cartoony charm. Read more...All items are constantly reused and combined with each other for puzzles, and by adding new abilities, the items remain interesting. But...The combat and motion controls are the true stars of this game! The motion controls work surprisingly well (although the stabbing attack doesn't always respond well), while the new combat system requires you to tactically find the weak spots in the enemy's defense. Are there any downsides then? Unfortunately, yes...Fi is one of the weak points. Although she is the most useful sidekick so far, she often gives hints that you don't want and repeats herself. The story is good, but the pace slows down during the Sacred Flames part of the game and fortunately picks up again afterwards. Despite these downsides, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is definitely the best 3D Zelda game since Ocarina of Time. With great gameplay, graphics, motion controls that really work and enhance the experience, and the Zelda magic, this is a game you shouldn't miss! Hide. Cijfer:
9,6An Engaging Adventure with a Cool Story, but the Motion Controls Get in the Way a Bit The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a captivating and ambitious adventure that redefines the traditional Zelda formula by utilizing the Wii Motion Plus. The game starts with an intriguing story that explores the origin of the Master Sword and the eternal battle between good and evil. The world floats above the clouds and provides a unique setting, enhanced by the distinctive cell-shaded graphics.
The dungeons and temples in Skyward Sword are brilliantly designed, offering a challenging mix of puzzles, combat, and exploration. The thematic variety of the dungeons keeps it fresh and engaging. Each area is rich in mythology and history, making the game world feel vibrant. The Loftwing, a giant bird used for traveling through the sky, adds an extra dimension to the gameplay and provides a sense of freedom. Read more...
Visually, Skyward Sword is appealing, but occasional minor glitches and less detailed textures may occur. Nevertheless, the artistic style contributes to the charm of the game world.
A notable aspect of Skyward Sword is the motion controls. The Wii Motion Plus technology is used to simulate realistic sword fighting, requiring various movements to execute attacks. While innovative at the time, it was also quite frustrating as the sensitivity is not always precise, leading to unintended movements. This aspect bothered me a lot. It's a shame because the rest of the game is so good!
Despite the controls, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword offers a deep and immersive experience. The combination of a captivating story, beautifully designed dungeons, and the unique addition of motion controls make it a memorable addition to the Zelda series. Hide. Cijfer:

MASTERFUL simply BRILLIANT! Wow! This game is truly amazing! The graphics look very impressive for the Wii, the music is beautiful, and the story is also very engaging. I haven't had this game for very long, but I can already say that it's definitely just as good as Ocarina of Time or Twilight Princess. It might even be a bit better! The dungeons are also beautifully crafted and, as always, not too easy. In my opinion, this game deserves a solid 10! It's truly a recommendation for everyone. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Cijfer:
10 Read more reviews. The best game in The Legend of Zelda series. True Zelda fans like myself don't need to hesitate for long before buying The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. For those who are still unsure, let me explain how this game works. As you may already know, The Legend of Zelda is all about action, adventure, and puzzles. In this game, you play as a boy whom you can give your own name. In the beginning, people lived on the earth. Then evil emerged and decided to destroy everything. A goddess prevented this by sending the last people to a small piece of land in the sky. There, they could peacefully live without being aware of the evil below. The goddess defeated the enemies and kept them imprisoned. Now the story truly begins when the enemies resurface. As the chosen one, you must defeat the enemies again. You can do this with the help of Fi, the spirit that guides you through your sword. You must travel through numerous worlds to progress further in the game. A major innovation is the Motion Plus, which requires you to defeat each enemy in a specific way with your sword. Honestly, everything is just amazing; I couldn't find any downsides to this game! You will definitely be occupied with this game for a while, even if you have already completed it, due to all the hidden secrets it holds. Cijfer:
10The easiest Zelda game ever After a long period of waiting, the Zelda fan is finally rewarded: once again, we are treated to an adventure that is perfectly crafted both visually and musically. Does this mean we are dealing with a perfect game?
Unfortunately not. Firstly, in the same way as in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns, you are forced to listen to all sorts of tips, hints, and other nonsense at numerous moments, like "Master, there is a 95% chance that this treasure chest contains something valuable." Or even worse: "Master, my calculations show that this key can be used to open a door"... Read more...
The difficulty level of the game has been kept very low. It becomes extra frustrating when you realize that some parts of the game are actually designed for the hardcore fan, making the game's difficulty level completely unbalanced.
Moreover, the motion controls are inconsistently applied at the strangest moments: for example, YES when you just want to swim straight ahead, but NO when you have to balance five pumpkins.
And that's exactly where the developers got stuck: they wanted to create a game for both the fan and the new, broad audience. If they had just made a choice, there might have been a perfect game on the shelves... Hide. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Cijfer:

Best Zelda ever. This is the absolute best Zelda ever made. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is not quickly completed, so you will have a lot of fun with it. Definitely a recommendation.
Once you've finished it, you can still play it at a higher level. That's the Hero mode. It's much harder because you don't get extra lives, and it hurts twice as much.
It would have been handy if the texts were also in Dutch. Cijfer:
10Another great Zelda! I don't know what other people are talking about here. What ugly monsters? What bad controls? What ugly world? All I see is a fun, colorful fairytale graphics world with lots of different monsters that you defeat by swinging your sword in whichever way YOU want. And if you feel the controls aren't quite right, the game offers all sorts of ways to adjust them (like laying your remote flat, etc.). I got the bundle with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and the golden wii remote and it works more than fine! A game that proves motion controls can indeed be good for a game! Definitely recommended! Cijfer:

Hours of Fun! This is simply the best Zelda game ever, with a brand new feature. In Zelda: Twilight Princess (remake for the Wii), it was already a lot of fun being able to swing your sword by moving your Wii remote, but here Link really performs the exact same movement as you do with your Wii remote, thanks to the Wii Motion Plus (or Wii Remote Plus) - truly fantastic.
I'm only at the 3rd world, so there's still a lot to do for me. In the shops, you can buy many types of items, and you can also upgrade certain items by collecting things in different worlds, so you really have hours of fun ;D.The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Cijfer:

Not enjoyable
The game itself is not that enjoyable. Everything is very confusing and different from the other games. When I played it, it was a bit disappointing; the game for the 3DS is much better.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword could have been much more beautiful and enjoyable. Cijfer:

Bad or good? The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword just doesn't feel like Zelda anymore. The Zelda in the game is also bad, and there is a very strange story. Nothing is the same anymore, but the game is still enjoyable, and the items and enemies are well thought out. Cijfer:
8,0Disappointing When I got this game, before I saw it, I thought: yes, a new Zelda!
But that was a big letdown, the gameplay is very annoying and the quality is really minimal because the enemies look terrible! Link isn't very attractive either... The world you live in could be better. If you look back at twilight princess, this is the worst and ugliest Zelda game.
I consider The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword a pretty bad purchase! Cijfer:

Fantastic experience! The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is an excellent game that continues the tradition of the Zelda series. The game offers an immersive story and challenging puzzles that make exploring the beautiful environments even more interesting. The game cleverly utilizes the Wii remote and -nunchuck, making the controls feel intuitive and the battles challenging. The graphics are bright and colorful, with vibrant characters and environments that bring the game to life. The only downside of the game is that some of the recurring tasks can feel a bit repetitive, but overall, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a fantastic experience that is worth playing for all fans of the Zelda series and action-adventure games. Cijfer:
8,5One of the best Wii games! The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is one of the best Wii games ever made. The game is packed with puzzles, enemies, amazing music, and much more. You quickly get into the well-crafted story. This Zelda is significantly better than the other Zelda games for the Wii. If you own a Wii, then you absolutely must have played this. It truly belongs at the top of the Wii games! Cijfer:

Amazing sword control with the Wii controller Played it multiple times and that's for a good reason. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on the Nintendo Wii is a masterpiece. The sword control with the Wii controller is fantastic and provides a unique experience.
For me, this is the best Zelda game alongside Twilight Princess. The beautiful world and challenging puzzles make it an unforgettable adventure. You really have to play this game! Cijfer:

During the second phase of the final boss battle with Demise, you can whip out your Bug Net, and Demise will then keep his eyes on this net and not attack. This is a kind of running gag in Zelda games; in A Link to the Past, you could deflect Agahnim's attacks with a Bug Net, in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, you could do the same with Ganon using an empty bottle, and in Twilight Princess, you can distract Ganondorf with a fishing rod. At a certain spot in Lake Hylia, one of the Parella's will say the phrase "It's a secret to everybody." Easter Eggs and Glitches: Did you know that the Gratitude Crystals in Skyward Sword are based on Japanese candy called kompeit?? Secrets: What can I do at night with Rupin, the plaza seller? Retrogast | | 6421 |
Visit people from the plaza at night in their own homes. At the seller Rupin, you can do something different at night than during the day. During the day, he sells arrows and bombs, but at night, you have the so-called Rupin Secret Night Market from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Every time it's night, he buys 4 different treasures (items for upgrading things, monster claw, etc.). He buys these treasures for a lot of rupees and 4 different ones every day. This is a fun way to earn rupees! P.S.: Instead of being annoying and cheerful, he is grumpy and uninterested in the evening.
Can't find it? Watch the video. In the first minute, you can see what the Secret Night Market is. Secrets: How can I determine day and night in Skyloft? Retrogast | | 6421 |
Don't know how to get night time in Skyloft? Just go sleep in someone's house (almost every house has a bed) in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. You can then choose whether you want to sleep until evening or morning. As a bonus, your hearts will also be fully restored. You can reverse this process by going to sleep again. Secrets: Have you ever seen Rupin's wife's antique collection and how much it costs if something breaks? Retrogast | | 6421 |
Ever been to the seller's place? His wife has a nice collection of antiques there with 'fragile things'. Those pots on thin shelves, very tempting to break. Roll against them once and they all fall at once. The problem, however, is that she gets a little angry and you'll have to pay for the entire antique collection (20 rupees each time). But it's worth it :p. Personal tip: How can I use monster drops to upgrade my items at Gondo during the day? At first glance, it may not seem like much use (monster claws, jelly, etc.), but these items are actually super useful. With these items, you can upgrade your gear. You can do this at Gondo during the day. It will cost you some rupees and some monster drops. He can also repair your shield for a small fee of 10 rupees.
Secrets: How can I open unopened treasure chests and break goddess cubes in Skyloft? Retrogast | | 6421 |
Do you have those black chests in Skyloft that you can't open? So annoying! In the levels below Skyloft, you'll come across those gray cubes (goddess cubes) from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Give them a Skyward strike to break them. When you do that, one of the many dark purple chests in Skyloft will turn pink, allowing you to open it. Of course, you'll have to find it first, which can be quite a task. Secrets: How do I find Bamboo Island in Skyloft? Retrogast | | 6421 |
Somewhere in Skyloft, as you fly around, you will come across a bamboo house on one of the little islands. If you enter, you will encounter a sword master from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He has a mini-game ready for you. Try to hit a super long bamboo stick with your sword as many times as possible before it falls over. This will cost you 10 rupees, but if you achieve certain scores, you will win prizes.
Check out the video after 2 and a half minutes. Secrets: How can the beetle in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword assist you? Retrogast | | 6421 |
Having trouble with something or running low on hearts and almost dying? Then make use of the beetle from The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. This little gadget allows you to explore your surroundings. Additionally, it also collects rupees and hearts for you (unfortunately, no heart containers).
Fun fact: Fly your little bug towards some monsters. They will run away screaming from this bug, which is funny but also quite handy, as it allows you to pass by without getting hit. Later in the game, you can upgrade your beetle even further so it can do even more. Personal tip: How can I improve my progress in a game? Having trouble in the game and Fi's hints aren't helping? No worries!
What not to do:
If you're stuck at a certain point, don't backtrack from where you need to go. Doing so will only hold you back and waste your time.
What to do instead:
Always stick to where you need to be. The solution is usually nearby. Just take a look around and/or read any tips provided in the level; this will save you a lot of time and frustration.
