Not as good as its predecessor, still great
Tales of Symphonia was one of the best games ever: the story was epic, the gameplay was fantastic, and the design was mouth-watering.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World is still great, but it doesn't quite reach the level of its predecessor: the story seems completely cliché, the characters are entirely predictable, and in terms of design, a lot seems to be missing (for example, the fully explorable world map has been replaced by a map with a few clickable locations).

However, the simple fact that the whole game is set in the world of Tales of Symphonia guarantees that we are dealing with a good game: not exactly perfect, but definitely worth it.

Top-Notch story and amazing gameplay!
Before you start reading this, know that I am a huge Tales of... fan.

I have always been a big fan of the series, but only recently had the chance to play Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World. And it played just like a good old Tales of... game.

This is one of the few games in the series that is a sequel, so as far as the story goes, I can only tell you about this game because I haven't played the previous entry yet. But the story of this game is rock solid, I had a lot of fun with it. If you have played the previous game as well, it's a big celebration of recognition because all the characters from the previous installment return to help you in your quest to awaken Lord Ratatosk from his slumber by finding all the Centurions.

Here is also a weak point in the game. Despite having many different characters at your disposal in the game, they cannot be leveled up or equipped with different armor or weapons. This is limited to your own character and 'Marta,' your companion who (almost) always stays with you.

But to still fill up your party, you have access to monsters. Every so often, you have a chance to capture a monster. Once you have captured these monsters, they can fight for you and you can treat them just like a full-fledged character of your own. This part gives a bit of a Pokemon-like feel, because if you feed the creatures when they reach a high enough level, they can also evolve ;)

It's a very long game, so you definitely get value for your money. And the anime style of the game is very appealing, but if you don't really vibe with this style of games, I would still recommend taking a look, if only for the RPG aspect.

Improved combat system and monster catching, but shorter gameplay
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World is the sequel to the wonderful Tales of Symphonia. Unfortunately, this game is not as good as its predecessor, but it is still a very enjoyable game. The combat system has been improved, and with the ability to catch monsters, it's even more fun. What is a bit disappointing though, is that you can no longer freely roam the world; you now simply select where you want to go and you're there. As a result, the game has become significantly shorter. Fortunately, thanks to the "grade system," you can replay it many times.

The Tales game fans prefer not to talk about
After the magnificent Tales of Symphonia, the developers decided to make part 2, simultaneously with the production of Tales of Vesperia for the HD consoles.

The result is that almost all the budget and effort went into Vesperia and not into this game. This fact leads to everything being much less good. The graphics are hardly better than some Gamecube games, voices for some characters have changed (extremely unfortunate, considering Symphonia's excellent cast), the game is much shorter, not grand and epic at all like its predecessor.

I could go on for a while, but it simply comes down to Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World being a hastily put together product that lacks quality. The worst part is that it ruins the beautiful memories you have of the first part.

I strongly advise against this game if you are a Tales fan!

A decent RPG, but lacks depth and isn't very innovative.
This is a good RPG for the Wii, of which there are too few, however, it's not very innovative compared to the Gamecube version and the story is a bit exaggerated. Nonetheless, it's a fun game for RPG enthusiasts.

Not as good as its predecessor but still nice!
Tales of Symphonia for the Wii is a decent RPG game. The successor to the Tales of Symphonia for the GameCube. The fun part about this game is that you can play it with multiple people at the same time. And if you have friends who are good at it, you can progress far in this game.
What was a bit disappointing is that the graphics haven't really improved. Also, what's quite unfortunate is the lack of freedom in exploration. It's somewhat limited compared to the GameCube version. You basically follow a linear path through the story with fewer things to discover, etc. Whereas on the GameCube, you had the freedom for side quests, etc. The monsters are mostly copies with a different color from the previous installment. Overall, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World is a decent RPG for the Wii with some nice innovations (multiplayer).

Sequel to Tales of Symphonia can't quite match the original, but offers 35 hours of gameplay
Tales of Symphonia is personally one of the best games on the Nintendo GameCube for me. So, it's no surprise that a sequel is in the works. "Symphonia 2" has turned out to be a decent game, but falls short of its predecessor. The game features the familiar Tales battle system, with the addition of being able to capture and utilize monsters. Doesn't this remind you a bit of another game series? Furthermore, the story is quite cliché, but this does mean you can expect to spend around 35 hours to see it through to the end. Seasoned Tales fans already know they want to get their hands on Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World.

There are three different endings to unlock in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World, and each ending depends on a few elements that you choose (consciously or unconsciously). The first 'choice' you make is whether or not to collect all Centurion's Cores, including those of Tonitrus and Ignis. Furthermore, the ending depends on your final battle against Lloyd and Martha (whether you win or lose against Ratatosk afterwards does not affect the end of the game).

Normal EndingLose the battle against Lloyd and Martha without having all Centurion's Cores.
Bad EndingWin the battle against Lloyd and Martha (whether you have all Centurion's Cores or not).
Good EndingLose the battle against Lloyd and Martha with all Centurion's Cores in your possession.

What are the Mystic Artes in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World?
Frank

In the previous game, the Unison Attack formed the most powerful weapon in the arsenal of the Tales of Symphonia player (with the exception of a few rare Secret Techs). Although this phenomenon has been greatly toned down in this game, something else has taken its place: the Mystic Arte. This is triggered by (after training your character to level 30) holding down the b-button after performing an Arcane Arte or High Spell. 47061
With all the different types of equipment in the game Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of The New World, you're probably wondering, "where can I find the best sword for Emil, and where can I get the strongest spinner for Marta?" The answer to that question is simple: the best weapons are hidden in the most challenging places. To obtain Emil's strongest weapon (the Nether Traitor), you'll need to complete the Twilight Palace, and to acquire Marta's best weapon (the Kismet), you'll have to descend to the deepest depths of Gladsheim. Check out Christiaan Verduin's tip on how to reach these two locations.
