Frustrating, but super fun!
I completed Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz in 3 weeks, not because it was easy, but because it was incredibly addictive! I spent over an hour on some levels because they were so difficult. Especially the final world, world 8, was very challenging, but it remained fun throughout.
I also liked that each world had a different theme with a corresponding boss level. Another nice addition was the different monkeys. And each monkey plays differently, BeBe, the baby monkey, is fast, but GonGon is larger and slower.
The graphics were beautiful with lots of color, very cheerful indeed. And the music suited it well.
I only found the mini-games a bit less appealing, but there are still a few fun ones among them.

8,5Challenging, Flawed, yet Fun
The Monkey Ball series has long had the reputation of being interactive, original, and innovative: unlike "normal" games, you don't control the main character, but rather the world in which that character exists, navigating your way to the endpoint.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz takes this a step further: the controls were supposed to be perfect with the Wii remote and indeed feel more natural, but unfortunately, the execution of this happened a bit too quickly. The game was one of the launch titles for the Wii, so it mainly focused on the concept (which is brilliantly executed), but the controls, on the whole, are a bit too chaotic.
Nevertheless, this doesn't take away from the fact that the visuals and music are great, the gameplay is relatively addictive, and the multiplayer games are well developed. Unfortunately, the controls fall short here as well (each minigame requires using the Wii remote in a different way) and the originality in the minigames is lacking (such as jump rope and rock-paper-scissors).
