Very enjoyable game and highly recommended as a gift. The 1-player mode is definitely worth playing. It's a challenging game, not as easy as it seems. You'll never get bored with the many secrets in the levels.
I myself expected the multiplayer mode to be worse than it actually is. There are various options in the multiplayer mode: Cooperative play, Free mode, and Coin Battle. All 3 are incredibly fun to play with friends and family. In cooperative play, you try to reach the finish line together with your friends. In Free mode, you also need to reach the finish line, but now you can also hinder each other quite a bit. In Coin Battle, you have to collect more coins than your friends. All three options can be played in many different levels.
The only downside to the game is that it doesn't have an online feature. But let's be honest, is it really such a disadvantage to miss out on such a fantastic game like New Super Mario Bros. Wii? Cijfer:

One of the most enjoyable additions is that the Koopalings are back with new ways to defeat Mario.
There are 2 new power-ups: the Penguin Suit and the Propeller Suit. With the Penguin Suit, you can slide on ice like a penguin and with the Propeller Suit, you can fly upwards and descend quickly if you wish, making it much easier to grab the flag pole at the top.

Fantastic multiplayer game!
What a great game this is! Especially when playing it together! We have spent evenings and nights playing until the early hours to get through all the worlds, and then continued to collect all the gold coins for the final world.
Some levels are very challenging to complete, but if you help each other and communicate well, you can do it. After completing it all the way through for the first time, we took a break and started over again, and even for the second time, it's just as fun!

A Fantastic Mario Game
This is a fantastic Mario game; the series of levels are super fun to play through! The level design is superb in this game.
The 2 new power-ups introduced in this game (helicopter suit and penguin suit) are super handy! And you can even play with multiple players, which of course makes it extra fun to go through the levels.

Best 2D platformer for the Wii with an amazing multiplayer experience
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is, for me, one of the most enjoyable 2D platformers on the Nintendo Wii. What I truly love is that you can play with four players simultaneously. This not only makes the game more fun but also a lot more chaotic and hilarious. My friends and I have had hours of fun conquering the various levels.
The levels are very well-designed and offer a nice challenge without being frustrating. You can now ride Yoshi, which is a fun addition in my opinion. The new power-ups like the propeller hat and the penguin suit are truly an improvement over the old ones. The propeller hat lets you shoot high up into the sky, while the penguin suit allows you to slide on ice and throw snowballs.
With the many levels, you have plenty to do, and the game remains interesting for a long time. For me, this is truly one of the best Wii games ever. I definitely recommend New Super Mario Bros Wii to anyone who loves platform games and wants to have fun with friends. Cijfer:

The most fun Mario Bros.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is my favorite Mario Bros. game. I have played this for so many hours with my dad in the past, and it's especially fun in multiplayer mode!
Usually, Mario Bros. games are quite similar, but this one is clearly the best for me. It has fun levels, and there's even a 9th world where you can unlock extra levels by collecting all the star coins in each world. The final boss in this version is also the most enjoyable. The Propeller Mushroom is also very fun to use, allowing you to fly and making the levels more enjoyable. For example, there are cloud levels that are very fun. New Super Mario Bros. Wii may not be "new" anymore, but it remains the absolute best Mario Bros in the series for me. It is one of the most enjoyable platformers you can play. The levels are well-designed, offering a great mix of challenge and fun. The multiplayer mode is fantastic; you can play with friends and defeat enemies together.
If this game is not in your collection, you are really missing out on something significant. The power-ups like the Propeller Mushroom and the Penguin Suit are incredibly well-crafted and add a lot to the gameplay. Absolutely recommended!

Completed the game, saved all the toads!
I absolutely loved New Super Mario Bros. Wii and still think it's a fantastic game.
Finished it yesterday (29-12-09) completely, including saving all the toads and discovering all the secret exits.
I couldn't bear to leave those poor toads behind, but it wasn't always easy.
