The magic is gone, a sequel would have been a better option.
Back when I was just a little 7-year-old lad, I used to play this game whenever I was at a friend's place. It had something magical about it, the mini-games, the different modes, and of course winning that cup. The gameplay was fantastic, however, the gameplay has dramatically changed and I find it working worse than the original. I just think the magic is gone, if you happen to see the GameCube version somewhere, grab that one as you'll get more value for your money. New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis is no longer the top choice in the multiplayer tennis world. Cijfer:

New controls don't work well
Mario Power Tennis is exactly the same as on the Gamecube, only with new controls (which don't work that well). If you haven't played it on the Gamecube yet and you really want to use the Wii Remote, then go ahead and buy it. But if you can choose between the Gamecube and Wii version, buy the New Play Control! I really love New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis. You can enjoy a good game of tennis in your living room with your friends or family. There is plenty of choice in different characters, each with 2 different power moves. There are also mini-games that are fun to play in between matches.
The only downside for me is that sometimes your swing isn't registered correctly, resulting in hitting a different shot than intended. Cijfer:

New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis for the Wii is an entertaining port of the original GameCube game, with an interesting addition of motion controls. At our home, the introduction of the Wii remote was well received, as it makes the game more accessible. It's fun to physically swing to make shots. However, I must say that the precision sometimes feels a bit inconsistent, especially for experienced gamers who are used to the accuracy of traditional button controls.
The colourful presentation and the iconic Mario universe remain a highlight. The varied courts and wacky power-ups keep the game fresh and energetic. The cutscenes are surprisingly good for a sports title; they really add something to the gaming experience. There are countless characters to play with and many tournaments to win. Additionally, there are some really fun mini-games, such as painting a wall by hitting paintballs. I found that really amusing!
For Mario fans, this game is definitely a recommendation. It offers a fun mix of sport and adventure in the familiar Mario universe. Despite the minor issues with the motion controls, it remains an energetic and entertaining experience. If you're a fan of Mario and his friends, this is a title you won't want to miss! Cijfer:

The first installment for the GameCube was a fun game that I spent several hours on. My heart started beating faster when I heard about New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis. Unfortunately, my excitement was quickly dashed. It is exactly the same game as the one for the GameCube, which is already a few years old. It feels a bit like milking the franchise. The only difference is that now you can play with a Wii remote. Even these new controls don't work that well... So, nothing has changed, except for the new possibilities of the Wii remote. Great tennis game for kids and friends
I think Mario Power Tennis is a fantastic tennis game, although it does seem very similar to the previous installment. However, for a child who has never played it before, it's a lot of fun. Always a blast when playing with your friends.New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis Cijfer:

I had never played this game before and I thought it was worth a try. New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis comes with instructions right from the start, albeit in English but easy to follow. You learn the techniques that you can later apply and get started right away. My favorite part is where you have to 'color in' a drawing on the wall with paintballs. Mario Power Tennis was a great idea by Nintendo
Mario Power Tennis originally came from the GameCube, but fortunately, it was also released for the Wii. With all the power shots and special moves, each character becomes more distinct. There are many different courts that you can unlock by winning tournaments. Of course, for even more fun, you can play the mini-games. This play control is difficult for children under about 10. After that, the game is too easy for real connoisseurs. For decent gamers, New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis is manageable. And you'll finish the game quickly. That's a shame. But it has more advantages than disadvantages!

Nostalgic Mario Tennis Experience, but Less Impressive on the Wii
