The new controls take some getting used to, but ultimately throw you into a fantastic game!
As a sequel to Super Metroid, I had high expectations for this game, and all of them have been met!
The storyline is very good, and the cutscenes are entirely in English with stunning visuals. The controls are quite different from Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, so despite having a tutorial in the game, it still takes some getting used to. It's fun that you can now also run around in third-person through the levels, which by the way is much faster than before. Of course, you can still shoot in first-person mode.
Metroid: Other M is a bit grittier and more challenging than the Prime series, which is why the game is deemed suitable for ages 16 and older. However, the game is enjoyable to play and truly captures the essence of a Metroid game.

What can I say that hasn't been said already? Metroid: Other M is brilliant! It's a masterpiece! Especially for fans of Super Metroid, they finally get what they want: A sequel! Step into the shoes of Samus Aran once again and discover who she really is! This proves that Nintendo still cares about their old school gamers. The game has everything a Metroid fan has needed all these years: great controls, more challenging, better story, epic!! Too much to mention!

The best Metroid since Super Metroid for the SNES!
Metroid: Other M is in my opinion one of the very best additions to the series since Super Metroid for the Super NES. In fact, this game picks up the story right from there and we see how the story unfolds further after Samus has shot down Mother Brain. Smooth gameplay and a very strong atmosphere. The title "Super Metroid Prime" would have suited the game as well, as it is a combination of both worlds. On one hand, the 3D puzzle effect that we know from the Metroid Prime series, on the other hand, the 2D platforming from the time of Super Metroid. Highly recommended!

YESH!!!
Oh yes, this is a game you absolutely must have played at least once. The graphics, for a Wii game, are truly AMAZ-ING in this game! You are completely immersed in the story, nothing seems unlikely, and it's a smooth game. Fast and fluid, it's impossible not to progress.
Even though the ending is a bit of a cliché, it feels fresh and unexpected.
Metroid: Other M is a solid game, and you won't get bored with it quickly.

Awesome blasting!
You're a girl Samus in a combat suit and you have to blast monsters with your laser. Super cool!!!!!!!
Way better than the previous versions. You can blast monsters away with pleasure. Even though you're actually a girl... Metroid: Other M is truly amazing and you should definitely give it a try!

The best storyline and graphics among the Metroids!
The gameplay is really awesome! The graphics are EVEN more beautiful (and THAT says something with Metroid: Other M). And the storyline is truly the best! I wish I could get to it more often, but my little brother keeps hogging the game all the time.

I think Metroid: Other M is a fantastic game with amazing graphics and a very good and touching story with beautiful animations. I also loved all the upgrades and the controls were very good.

Metroid: Other M is an entertaining game with beautiful graphics, enjoyable gameplay, and an okay story.
The controls can be a bit awkward for some things (unfortunately no analog stick for this game), but once you get used to it, it's manageable.

It's not on the same level as Metroid Prime, but still a fun game.

Fun game, works well that you can play in 3D and 2D! This is truly a recommendation to have in your Wii collection! Combined with the great music and captivating story, you just keep on playing!

Great game, lifelike cutscenes, beautiful story
The game starts with a flashback to the events of Super Metroid (a game on the SNES): the baby Metroid protects Samus by serving as a shield and gets shot down by Mother Brain.
Samus defeats Mother Brain with a power she received from the baby and leaves the planet Zebes, which is then destroyed.

Samus is patched up by a couple of scientists and is sent to the BOTTLE SHIP, where Metroid: Other M takes place.

The cutscenes are amazingly crafted, like a real movie, and the controls have been improved.
You can no longer run in first-person, but you run in third-person and can shoot/explore the environment in first-person.

Through the cutscenes, you learn more about Samus's past and what is happening on the BOTTLE SHIP.

It's somewhat understandable that the game is rated 16+ due to the lifelike enemies, but I still find 16 a bit exaggerated.
If possible, I would label it as a 14+ game, but if I had to choose between 12+ and 16+, the developers are right.

Controversial New Direction for the Metroid Series
Metroid: Other M is a controversial addition to the Metroid series that attempts to combine classic gameplay with a more cinematic approach. In my opinion, the game offers an interesting mix of third-person action and limited first-person segments, giving a fresh twist to the usual Metroid formula. Graphically, it impresses with its beautiful atmospheric environments and smooth animations. The fast-paced combat and movements give Samus a new, energetic look that I personally really appreciate.

Where the game causes division among fans is the focus on the story. For the first time, Samus Aran is portrayed as an emotional and complex character. While this is an interesting development, the execution of her character and dialogue feels misplaced or even detrimental to her iconic status as an independent heroine for many fans. The gameplay itself is enjoyable but is sometimes hindered by the linear structure and limitations that don’t always fit well with the freedom and exploration that the series is typically known for.

Metroid: Other M is ambitious and offers a unique perspective on the franchise. Although the execution of both the story and some gameplay choices may not appeal to everyone, I am a big fan of Other M. It gives a new twist to the Metroid games and provides an experience that is different from what we are used to from the series. If you’re open to a different approach to the Metroid world, then this game is definitely worth a try.

Missile tanks, Energy parts and tanks, E-recovery tank...
Metroid: Other M is a cool game. The graphics are amazing! The new power-ups like the speed booster. And the numerous items such as missile tanks, energy parts, and energy tanks of course! E-recovery tank and the accel charge! You have various beams like the ice beam, plasma, and wave beam! It's just a shame that it all takes place on the battle ship. The story is superb!!!

Fantastic Adventure for SNES Fans
If you have nostalgic feelings from the SNES era, then Metroid: Other M on the Nintendo Wii is definitely another fun adventure. To me, this Metroid game looks fantastic, with beautiful graphics and an engaging storyline. And what's also nice is that the price is quite reasonable. It's another hit for the Metroid series and definitely worth playing.

ATTENTION! In Metroid Other M, there is a glitch where a door in Sector 3 won't open! To avoid this glitch, follow these steps: after the room where you acquire the Ice Beam, you will enter a room with multiple spiky enemies with purple legs. Defeat these enemies to open a door. Go through this door and DO NOT go back to the previous room in Metroid Other M. If you do, a door will not open later in the game, and the only way to fix this is either by sending your game to Nintendo or starting completely over.

Once you've defeated the final boss of Metroid: Other M, there's one last mission:
You need to retrieve something irreplaceable, and when you're there, Samus gets emotional, causing her to be unable to use the Power Suit for a while. You have to return to your own Gunship while playing as Samus without the Power Suit. If you succeed (piece of cake), you'll receive a new icon in the Game Selection screen.
