Fun game, but Sonic isn't fast enough
It's a really fun game, but something's not right. In Sonic games, you see Sonic running like crazy and now... Is Sonic having knee trouble or something? Even Mario can keep up with him there! And another thing about Sonic, HE CAN'T SWIM AT ALL!! Tails struggles a lot in the 110M hurdles. Why doesn't he just fly over them?? But Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a fun game with lots of enjoyable events. Highly recommended!

More fun with friends, lacks Mario-like elements
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is an entertaining game to play with friends. On your own, it's a lot less fun. The games could use some more Mario-like elements. For example, I miss high jumping in a Frog Suit, or a championship in Chain-Chomp dressage. It's all a bit standard now, with Mario and Sonic characters instead of the athletes.

Fun party game for friends and family
I think it's a fun game, but only when played with others. There are many mini-games that are especially enjoyable with 2 players. The "story mode" is not much more than playing everything on your own to unlock new mini-games, not very exciting. The variety of mini-games is extensive, covering almost every sport. The controls are not very refined. For example, if you swing too hard during the long jump, it can go wrong and you end up with 0 meters. Also, the game sometimes reacts even if you just stand up, oversensitive at times. Overall, a fun party game to play with friends or family.

Perfect for Multiplayer Fun
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a fantastic game!
I had a lot of laughs playing this game with some friends, but playing alone was a lot less fun. This is truly a game you buy for the multiplayer experience. It's a great feeling when you're just a bit faster in the 100-meter sprint, or when you jump that extra centimeter.
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a top-notch game, as long as you have a few buddies to play with.

Simple, but fun
A simple yet enjoyable game. Less fun for older children. My child with intellectual disabilities absolutely loves this game! Especially because he can easily control it himself. My 3-year-old son also enjoys playing along with his brother.

Fun and Challenging Game with Mario and Sonic
I quite like Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. It's hard to believe, but you can actually get quite sore from playing this. I really enjoy the fact that they've combined Sonic and Mario in one game, it's truly a very enjoyable game.

Fun for a first time, but lacks long-term variety
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games may have been a well-selling game, but I didn't find it that enjoyable.
When you play it for the first time, the game is very fun.
However, after playing it a few times, there's hardly anything left to enjoy. Because there isn't much variety in what you can do.
The controls are nothing special either, you have to shake your remote to run! Well, not a game for the long haul, I'd say!

Great for multiplayer, but quickly becomes boring in single-player mode
I did enjoy this game. Especially when playing with others. The controls are not difficult either, as it involves waving and shaking the Wii-mote.
I played with different characters since each has their own strengths. I often found myself wanting to outperform my girlfriend and kept focusing on that, practicing a lot.
I do think it quickly becomes boring when playing alone. The game doesn't offer much challenge at the moment.

Fun to play together, but watch out for muscle pain!
I agree with Jesse that Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games could use a bit more Mario flair. However, it's important to remember that this game is not just for Mario fans. It's also for Sonic fans, and they won't get much out of a chain chomp :P.

Personally, I find it to be an enjoyable game, especially when played with others. Playing it alone can get a bit boring. Just be careful not to play for too long at a stretch. You might end up with muscle pain. But if you play in moderation and take breaks, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is definitely worth playing. I rate this game an 8 because it's genuinely fun, but there are a few areas that could have been better thought out.

Avoid this one and go for the 2012 version
I wouldn't really recommend this game. The game isn't terrible, but all the other parts have improved a lot compared to this one and added many new sports and characters. This game offers very few sports. Only athletics, swimming, gymnastics, archery, table tennis, fencing, shooting, and cycling. For comparison: Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has more than 30.

As a first game in the series, it's not bad, but those of the Olympic Winter Games and the 2012 version are a lot better and also for the Wii.

The controls are pretty much the same for most sports, which is quite boring. This is something all the newer games in the series have improved upon.

Finally, there are the Dream Events and the story mode. The Dream Events aren't much different from the regular sports. The newer games improve on this and create unique events. In the story mode, you only have to do the sports, but actually, this game is only fun to play in multiplayer, so unfortunately, it's not worth it either.

Disappointing gameplay and limited minigames
This game is really bad!!!
It costs €50 and what do you get? A few minigames!
I feel sorry for anyone who bought this game. Don't believe me? Just look at the reviews. The gameplay is also bad if you want to know that. The only good thing is that Mario is in it!

Well, I think Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is just a mimic of the Olympic Games. There is little action involved. Fun with more people and Olympic Games fans, but otherwise, this is a game you can just leave on the shelf.

Great game for the first in the series
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 is the first in the series and they're off to a good start. There are many new games and the most fun are the dream events. The combination of Mario and Sonic was not something many people expected.
You can play Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008 with up to four players, making it great for family nights. If you want to be your own Mii, you can do that too. The motion controls make the events even more enjoyable.

Great game to have

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has many different events to play such as the 100-meter sprint, javelin throw, and swimming. The games are quite challenging to complete 100% because you need to earn all the medals, crowns, trophies, and emblems. This game is especially fun to play when the real Olympic Games are taking place!

A fun game to pass the time, but could be improved in some aspects
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a fantastic game! I always played this game with friends. Most modes and mini-games are enjoyable to play alone as well (some modes do require multiple players). All mini-games are explained in a way that everyone can understand them. If you don't like playing with the characters, you can even use your own Mii. Almost everything has been taken into account. However, I did find it a bit disappointing that Sonic wasn't faster or that Tails hardly used his flying abilities, but on the other hand, the game would be boring if Sonic always won in races, for example. I would have also liked to see more mini-games, because when you look at Wii Play, for instance, it's a bit underwhelming. All in all, a fun game to pass the time, but there is still room for improvement.

Not much depth...
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games is a game that makes great use of motion controls. Do all sorts of crazy stunts with Mario & Sonic. From 100-meter sprint to table tennis, all sports are included. If you enjoy shaking and swinging your Wii Remote, then this is right up your alley. It's a lot of moving, moving, and moving. There isn't much depth to it, unlike the Nintendo DS game. That's a bit of a shame, but overall, it's still a great addition to your collection.
