New rules, new opportunities!
This game is truly amazing! The rules have been completely changed. Instead of each player moving around the game board individually, now everyone is in a vehicle. This opens up many new possibilities. You also need to pay closer attention and use new tactics.
There are also 80 super fun new mini-games.
Some require keen observation, quick reflexes, or simply moving with the Wii remote!

There are 3 new characters in the Mario Party series, namely Koopa Troop (unlocked from the start), Kamek (needs to be unlocked), and Shy Guy (also needs to be unlocked).

Another new feature is the Boss Battles. In these battles, you must fight against various bosses with all the players you're using in the Party, such as Lakitu, Giant Cheep Cheep, Whomp, and many more.
Instead of earning coins, you collect mini-stars. These are scattered across the game board and you must gather them. There are also purple mini-stars. Avoid picking those up, as they deduct stars from your total.

This game guarantees a real Party atmosphere at your place with its enjoyable music!

My advice is: Play Mario Party 9 with your friends or family, as it's less enjoyable when played alone. Unfortunately, that's the only downside.

Evening-filling fun, but (unfortunately) no online play.
Mario Party 9 has been given a new lease of life. Different developer, different formula, but still going strong. Who would have thought that 3 years after the flop Mario Party 8, there would be a part 9? Some had silent hopes, which fortunately are now coming true. The games are good (they make use of the capabilities of the WiiMote and are not cliché hack-and-shoot games) and the game boards are well-inspired this time around. Definitely evening-filling, but it's just a shame that there's no online mode. That would have made the party complete.

Mario Party 9 is so much fun! (like every mario party is)
You have a new style of playing on the board, namely in a vehicle.
I do find it a bit of a shame that you already have all the mini-games and that you don't have mini games on the board as often. It's nice though that you can earn stars per mini-game. Thanks to Bowser, you can suddenly win 40 more stars!

This is the first Mario Party game with new rules that only make playing more enjoyable. Everyone can win, making it very accessible for the whole family. Fun guaranteed!

One of the most enjoyable Mario games ever!
Mario Party 9 is the only Mario Party game that has different rules than the others! Instead of collecting coins and buying stars, here you have to collect as many mini stars as possible along the route, in mini-games, events, and so on!
The boards are very diverse, you now also fight together against the final boss (in Mario Party DS you did that on your own), there is a wide choice of characters and boards, and the best part is: you now travel together across the board!!! I think it's the most enjoyable Mario Party game so far! Highly recommended for the whole family! The only downside is that the controls of the mini-games can be a bit annoying at times, but other than that, it's a super fun game!!

Perfect game!
Super game! Personally, I think Mario Party 9 is the best game of 2012.
There's a lot to do in Mario Party 9, it's very extensive so you won't get bored. A neighbor boy and I often play this game, sometimes we even play for money. It remains really fun and is also enjoyable for younger players around 7 years old.

This game is really funny! And also much better than previous Mario Party games. If you're hesitating whether to buy it, hesitate no more and get it! What's different about this Mario Party 9 is that now you all ride together in one vehicle across the game board. But that doesn't make the game any less fun. There are also new mini-games waiting for you. Another fun aspect is that you can play the story mode on your own. Another difference is that you don't have to collect big stars, but mini stars instead. It's fun to tease other players by stealing their mini stars. In short, definitely worth buying!

The best Mario Party ever!
I don't even know where to start. This game is FANTASTIC. This game is the game I played the most as a little kid. The boards are fantastic, and I think this way of Mario Party is much better than its predecessors. Before, you had a circular board where you had to collect coins and then be the first to reach the star and buy it, after which the star would move. That was fun, but nowhere near as fun as Mario Party 9 makes it. I don't understand why many Mario Party fans dislike this game so much!

This time, you're in a cart all together, and every time someone rolls the dice, the cart moves. Now you really have a route through the board, not just going in circles! Along the way, you encounter fun events, and halfway through and at the end, you play the boss battle mini-games. Each board has unique mini-games and events on the board, introducing new features. The game stays refreshing. You win by having the most mini-stars.

There's also a solo mode that's more like a storyline. You play through all the boards against computers and have to win each time to progress to the next board. There are also bigger mini-games. The game has so much to offer that it never gets boring!

Great party game for fantastic fun
After the disappointment of Mario Party 8, I was actually not keen on trying this one anymore, but on the day of its release, I caved in once again.
And I didn't regret it! It remains a party game, no friends means it's a total bore, but with friends, family, or even your annoying little sister, this is guaranteed fun! With beautiful graphics, original mini-games, and fun game modes, Mario Party 9 is definitely a party hit!

Some say that Mario Party 8 is more fun, but I disagree. For me, Mario Party 9 offers enough innovations and surprises to make it the very best of the series. The new vehicle mechanics and the variety in mini-games truly make it a fantastic experience.

Finally a Different Kind of Mario Party

Mario Party 9 is quite different compared to the previous Mario Party games, as now each player is in one vehicle and the coin system has been replaced by a star system. Mario Party 9 is one of the most well-known and enjoyable subcategories of Mario. Unfortunately, Nintendo took a different direction with the series. Instead of all characters moving independently across the game boards like in the previous games in the series, now everyone moves together in one long line in a vehicle. In the museum of Mario Party 9, you can buy constellations for every 50 party points you have saved! You can view your constellations by clicking on Stars in the museum in the main menu at the top center, and then pressing View Stars. Each constellation has its own name. Mario's constellation is called Super Bro Major and Toad The Advisor. When you click on a constellation, you can also read information about it. There are constellations of: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, a Warp Pipe, and fireballs. You can also launch fireworks for every party point!

For every 200 Party Points you have saved up, you can buy an extra vehicle for a board in Mario Party 9! For each board, there are also 2 other vehicles available! For example, for Toad Road, you can buy a car that looks like a Wiggler! In Boo's Horror Castle, you can buy a flying bed. Once you've chosen a vehicle, you'll always use it until you choose another one. So, the chosen vehicle is also used in Solo Mode!

If you want to easily win this minigame in Mario Party 9, don't choose large paint splatters, as they take too much time. Also, don't go for small splatters, as they are too little. Opt for medium-sized splatters, as they don't take too long and are big enough. And try to shoot one large splatter over the COM's colors in the last second, that way the COM immediately has less and you have more!

Often you have too many dice blocks and need to choose which one to discard. But some are more useful than others, so here are some tips for the best choices. The best dice blocks, from best to worst:

1. Slow dice block. With good timing, you can actually determine what you roll because the dice block moves slower.

2. 1-10 dice block. If you want to cover a lot of ground, this is the one to choose. On average, you'll roll twice as high!

3. 4-5-6 dice block. You'll roll 4, 5, or 6. Very handy if you want to move a specific number of steps.

4. 1-2-3 dice block. Useful when you want to take few steps.

5. 0-1 dice block. If you want to minimize your roll, this is the one to pick. If you have both this and the 1-2-3 dice block and absolutely need to move at least 1 step forward, go for the 1-2-3 block!

6. The regular dice block from 1 to 6. You can always choose this one, so it ranks the lowest.
