In The Vanishing Files, you do pretty much the same as in so many hidden object games: as the psychic gifted Cate West, you search for evidence in various locations for different legal cases. Meanwhile, you also have to deal with combining the evidence and figuring out the culprit: a decent premise in itself.
The issue with this game is the level of difficulty. Cate West: The Vanishing Files is indeed difficult! Yes, difficult with a capital D, the search for items becomes so frustrating over time. Sometimes, the sought-after items seem to blend so much into the background that the objects simply appear unfindable.
Add to that the fact that each level has a time limit (which decreases by half a minute with every wrong click or answer), and you'll conclude that this game is only appealing to the true die-hard fan.
